RUT - development handbook 9.32 An introduction to the Qt toolkit v4.0

Jonas Norling · 2006

Qt is an open source code library for C++ developed by the Norwegian company Trolltech. It contains many useful tools to develop many kinds of applications. Qt is mainly a toolkit for graphical user interfaces, but does also contain lots of other functionality, e g network-handling, data-base communication and data structures. The completeness of Qt and its platform independence simplifies the writing of platform independent source code that runs on UNIX, MacOS X and Windows. The purpose of this process description is to give an introduction for development in Qt. It describes some recommended tools and how these may be used. Finally there is a description about some important components in Qt, which are essential when developing graphical interfaces, and a larger example application.
