Aware Queuing Analysis for UMTS

This paper presents a QoS aware resource sharing queuing model, and its application in analyzing the impact of UMTS service mix on capacity requirements. A two-dimensional MMnA model is derived, and as a case study, applied to analyze the impact of QoS aware packet service on UMTS radio capacily. The service workload modeling concepts and analytical WCDMA capacity modeling are also discussed. The analysis concludes that both service mix and data rates have signijkant impact on UMTS planning.
