Malayalam OCR Systems- A Survey

The success of Technology is judged by its power to address the problems of common men. As the language of the world, the dominance of English in information processing is a fait accompli. Researchers are trying to break this language supremacy by equipping localized computing. Reading printed or written document is easy for human. Optical Character Recognition aims at gaining similar capabilities for the machine as well. This paper reviews major works on Character Recognition of Malayalam, a south Indian language. This survey is an approach to compare different methodologies and phases in machine recognition.
