Inthis paper we present a way ofmaking webservices andontologies worktogether Wehavedeveloped asoftware that exploits theontology descriptions ofwebservices inorder tohelptheir composition. Oursystem automatically generates andstoresthewholeontology layer ina relational database; within this approach, a sortofcaching systemiscreated which, starting from managed webservices, creates a knowledge basewithoutcontinously converttheWebService description to itsontology equivalent. Wechoose tomakethis logic layer invisible andtoletthefinal user interact with a simple andstraightforward graphical interface that both manages theontology andtheactual composition. Wewill point outprosandcons ofusing some specific implementations ofthestateoftheartlanguages that can beusedtobuild sucha system,alsounderlining that we adopt OpenSource solutions only.
