RUT - Development manual 20.3 Process measures v 3.0

Henrik Johansson · 2005

It is important to do measures on the software processes that are a part of a project to achieve high quality on the product and to predict future usage of the processes. ”You cannot control what you cannot measure.” These words of wisdom told by Tom DeMarco conclude the importance of process measure. When a measure of a process is carried out, it is important to have a goal with the measure and that the project management actively uses the result in the decision-making. Field of application 1 Field of application This RUT can be used to initiate a measure of a software process. According to Pressman [Pressman, 1997] a software process is: A software process is the framework required to solve the tasks in development of high quality software. It is important to do measures on the processes used in a software project partly to value the results of the process and partly to do predictions about future usage of the process. A result of the process measures is increased control and understanding of the software development to increase the quality of the software and to reduce the development costs.
