Multi-media groupcommunication services area newkindofcommunity-driven services. Onekeyconcern is thataccess linkqualities ofdifferent groupmembersmayvary significantly especially incasegroupmembersareconnected via heterogenous wireless networks. Asaconsequence, theefficiency ofagroupcommunication isnegatively impacted. Inthis paper weprovide a simulation analysis onhowthethroughput ofa peer-to-peer groupcommunication canbereduced incaseonly afewmembersofagroupareeffected byalinkquality degra- dation. We first classify groupcommunication systems regarding their overall architecture andtheir floor control mechanisms. Afterwards adedicated communication protocol (thePush-to-X protocol) -developed toefficiently support groupcommunication onembeddedsystem platforms -isintroduced. After presenting thesimulation environment, we present a basicgroupcom- munication traffic modelderived fromempirical observations. Finally simulation results arediscussed, showing athroughput reduction ofupto50%incaseonlyoneparticipant ofagroup communication isaffected byanadditional linkdelay.
