Secure communication ofdataoverpublic channels is oneofthemostimportant challenges. Boththeactivities to secure contents andtobreak security areveryhot. Inorder toreduce thechances ofattack, security needs tobemade invisible. Theneedstopreserve originality, ownership information, andintegrity oftext documents inawaythat cannotbeidentified byeveryone isbeingfelt badly. Watermarking ofthedocuments isastep toward achieving these objectives. However, towatermark a plaintext document (ASCII) inawaythattheoriginal text will not change (and itwould beverydifficult tobreak it), isagreat challenge. We havedeveloped anovel encoding scheme whichcanbeusedtoinsert information inplain text without changing thetext. A system hasbeendeveloped based uponthis encoding scheme. Thispaperdescribes the system anddemonstrates itsworkings.
