The NationalAeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)has recently conducted a comprehensive study toidentify themostappropriate and efficient modulation, coding, multiple access andlink protocol techniques forfuture spacecommunication links supporting spaceexploration andscience missions. The study waschartered byNASA'sSpaceCommunication and Navigation (SCaN) office andisreferred toastheCoding, Modulation, andLinkProtocol (CMLP)study. Thispaper12 describes theCMLP modulation evaluation andstates the relevant conclusions andrecommendations.
