Thispaperdescribes theresults ofresearch work aimedatproviding anefficient solution totheaggregation oflow bitratetraffic incontrol applications. Itincludes theproposal and analysis ofanarchitecture thatintegrates Terminal Adapters and a Concentrator connected toa remoteControlApplication througha communication network. TheATM technology was selected toimplement theproposed system duetoitsproperties of multiplexing efficiency andcontrol ofpacketdelay. Scheduling Algorithms fortheTerminal AdapterandConcentrator have beendeveloped inordertosatisfy twomaingoals: toguarantee committed delays fortimesensitive services, andtoincrease the networktransmission efficiency. The results, obtained by simulation, showthatthesystemperformance complies withthe requirements ofthemajority ofcontrol applications.
