Fourth International Workshop on Intelligent Interfaces for Human-Computer Interaction (IIHCI-2011) Welcome Message from Workshop Organizers

Antonio Gentile, Salvatore Vitabile · 2011

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is a multidisciplinary research area that includes understanding, designing, building and evaluating complex interactive systems involving many people (both researchers and users) and many technologies. On the other hand, developments in software and hardware technologies are continuously driving applications in supporting our collaborative and communicative needs as social beings, both at work and at play. This workshop addresses a central issue of HCI focusing on Intelligent Interfaces for Human Computer Interaction, which is the study and development of devices that allow users to interact with computer and automatic systems. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers from the different fields whose work is related to intelligent interface design for HCI. This year, the program committee has selected 6 quality contributions among those received for oral presentation. We believe all of these papers and topics will not only provide novel ideas, new results, work in progress, and state-of-the-art techniques in this field, but also stimulate future research activities in the area of human-computer interaction. The program for this workshop is the result of hard and excellent work of many people, including authors, external reviewers, and program committee members. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of them for their cooperation in completing the workshop program under a very tight schedule. We also gratefully acknowledge the IEEE Computer Society for sponsoring the workshop. Last but not least, we are grateful to the organizers of the International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems at the Korean Bible University (KBU) in Seoul, Korea (CISIS-2011) for hosting the workshop, and, in particular CISIS-2011 Workshop Co-Chairs, Joanna Kolodziej and Minoru Uehara, and CISIS General Co-Chairs, Leonard Barolli, and Fatos Xhafa, for bringing together this important event. We hope you will enjoy your participation to IIHCI and your stay in Seoul!
