The mechanism runs at the video slice level and adaptively and selectively adjusts discard level to switch buffer occupancy and video cell payload types. To evaluate its pelformance, we have designed an Extended Priority Assignation Scheme (ExPAS) which permits the definition of up to three priority classes per virtual connection. In comparison with previous space priority techniques based on CLP mechanism, Adaptive-ESD associated with ExPAS shows better results in minimizing probability of reception of corrupted video slices, as well as a significant improve of the network effective throughput.
