Welcome from the MCSoC-09 Chairs

Welcome to the 2009 International Symposium on Embedded Multicore systems-on-chips (MCSoC-09) held in conjunction with the 38th International Conference on Parallel Processing (ICPP 2009) to be held in Vienna, Austria from September 22 to 25, 2009. Systems on chips designs have evolved from fairly simple unicore, single memory designs to complex multicore systems consisting of a large number of IP blocks on the same silicon. As more and more cores are integrated into these designs to share the ever increasing processing load, the main challenge lies in efficiently and quickly integrating them into a single system capable of leveraging their individual flexibility. The MCSoC 2009 symposium aims at providing the world’s premier forum of leading researchers in the single and multicore system-on-chip design areas for academia and industry. The symposium received a large numbers of submissions from different countries. All submissions were carefully reviewed by committee members. To maintain the high quality of the symposium, only 12 papers were accepted for oral technical presentations. We believe all of these papers and topics will not only provide novel ideas and new results but also stimulate future research activities in the area of MCSoC design in particular and embedded systems in general. The program for this symposium is the result of the hard and excellent work of many people, including authors and Program Committee members. We would like to express our appreciation to all of them for their help. We thank Zili Shao and Abdel Ejnioui, MCSoC 2009 program CoChairs, for their great job.
