A High-PerformanceMicroprocessor-Based

Fft Systolic Processor · 1978

A high-performance FFTprocessor basedonamicropro- grammable microprocessor isdescribed here.Thesystem processes a 256-point complex transform inless than5.3msandiscapable ofpro- cessing avariable length (4to256,radix-2) complex transform. The system usesfixed point arithmetic, andeachcomplex piece ofdatacon- sists ofa16-bit 2'scomplement real partanda16-bit 2's complement imaginary part.Thehardware consists ofIntel 3000-bit-slice micro- processor, TRWs multiplier chip(MPY16A-J), input andoutput RAM's, control PROM's, andsomeTTLlogic. Theprocessor wastested using aNOVA-2minicomputer through a CAMACinterface andtheprocessor results werecompared withthe ideal results obtained ontheUNIVAC-1 108computer.
