Smart surveillance systems useanumber of automatic video analysis techniques like object detection, tracking andclassification inconjunction with database andwebapplication servers toprovide users with thecapability ofdistributed smart surveillance. TheIBMsmart surveillance system isoneofthefewadvanced surveillance systems which provides not only thecapability toautomatically monitor ascene butalso thecapability tomanage thesurveillance data, perfonn event based retrieval, receive real timeevent alerts thru standard webinfrastructure andextract long term statistical patterns ofactivity.
