An Hypothesis Test Technique for Determining a Difference in Sampled Parts Defective Utilizing Fisher's Exact Test

Michael Hackerott, Andy Urquhart · 1990

Many types of sample testing are performed during the production of integrated circuits. Often the results of such testing is a very small parts defective out of a sample which is itself very small compared to its population. The ability to determine a statistically sig- nificant difference when comparing the results of two such samples is critical in correctly evaluating the outcome of experiments. Fisher's Exact Test of the difference between two proportions provides a statis- tical tool to perform this type of comparison.
