It’s hard to achieve network security. First, ad-hoc wireless network does not have any infrastructure and thus becomes the gateway to different attacks. The ad-hoc network is very dynamic as mobility of nodes is very rapid and random. Thus the secure solution has to be also dynamic. Second, due to the mobility and characteristics of ad-hoc networks, most nodes are small to make function. The network may be tampered when a node is lost or malfunction. With lots of different nodes, it is also hard to detect the exact malicious node. Third, some of the nodes (laptop, handheld) may have limited memory space, computational power and battery powered. Thus time and power consuming applications become hindrance for the whole ad-hoc network. Last, active/passive link attacks like spoofing, denial of service, masquerading, eavesdropping, impersonation attacks are possible. External attackers can inject erroneous routing
