Scientific Computing Using the MODEL Procedure and Macro Coding for General Physics

Tsung-Hsun Tsai · 2007

This paper introduces the use of the MODEL procedure for solving problems in general physics courses at college level. The merit of the MODEL procedure is that the models in the SAS statements are declared in the form of governing equations instead of coded and embedded in the algorithms. Because many problems in general physics can be modeled as nonlinear equations or differential equations, the MODEL procedure with some macro coding can solve more complex problems or the problems that require more computing steps. Progressively harder problems from general physics course are presented with solutions of these problems using the MODEL and IML procedures.
