A family oflocal segmentation vector filters forcolor imagenoisesuppression anddetail preservation is proposed. Moststate-of-the-art filters alleviate impulse noise wellbuttendtodestroy thinlines, edgesandfine imagedetails. The proposed filters facilitate local segmentation topreserve imagestructures andnoise suppression. First theK-VMFisdeveloped andusedfor local segmentation, andthenaselection ofvector filters is usedtoreconstruct thecurrent pixel. Inaddition, once pixels havebeenmarkedasbeing noisy, their values are notusedinprocessing subsequent pixels. Theproposed filters alsodemonstrated acceptable results forboth objective andsubjective assessments.
