The rail vehicles performance on the tracks is limited by the lateral instability inherent to the wagon design. Train-operation safety and vehicle and track dynamic interaction can be governed by inspection and monitoring of wagons health. It is a wireless sensor network supported rail vehicle health card system. This system uses WSN technology to monitor the railway wagon health condition. It concentrates on monitoring the data from each sensor and communicates to the loco pilot through a ZigBee protocol for taking further precautionary actions to prevent any future disastrous events. The VHC system use Global system for mobile communication, Global Positioning Satellite receiver and different sensors such as accelerometer, temperature sensors, smoke sensors, ultrasonic sensors, magnetic sensors. So the proposed system can reduces accident rate and increases the efficiency of rail vehicle maintenance.
