MULTISCALE EEG MAPPING OF EPILEPTIC EVENTS

Exploration Fonctionnelle · 1991

A new framework is described for the analysis of the E.E.G. signal. This study is focused on the enhancement of E.E.G. transient events (spikes, spike-waves) by mean of non-orthogonal wavelet decomposition and their direct representation on a multi-level cartography. The potentiality of the method to detect the beginning of an epileptic seizure is briefly discussed. The approach is tested on surface and indepth signals recorded on pathological subjects. The results show that a new perspective can be expected in the interpretation of paroxystic events. The decomposition procedures are first reviewed and some results are provided in the second section.
