Today’s advanced silicon technology and CAD tools have made it possible to fabricate, a microprocessor with one million transistors. The Intel i86O(TM) microprocessor was conceived to take full advantage of this technology. The silicon budget allows the processor’s floatingpoint design to use parallel execution and supercomputer techniques to achieve a peak performance of 80 MFLOPS.
