Thispaperdescribes theProcess Managerinthe ATLAS DAQ system. ThepurposeoftheProcess Manager istoperform basic process control onbehalf ofthesoftware components oftheDAQ system. Itisabletocreate, destroy and monitor thebasic status (e.g., running, exited, killed) ofsoftware components ontheDAQ workstations andfront-end processors. Section I gives a briefoverview oftheProcess Manager functionalities. Section IIfocuses ontherequirements theProcess Managersystem hastofulfil tobefully integrated intheDAQ system. Section IIIshowshowtherequirements aremetbythe current implementation. Thecommunication schemabetween the different parts oftheProcess Managersystem, theprocedure to launch aprocess andthepossible states inwhichaprocess can bearedescribed inSections IV,V andVI.Section VIIdeals with someconsideration oftheProcess Managerperformance while someconclusions aregiven inSection VIII.
