AGameTheoretic ModelofDistributed PowerControl forBody Sensor Networks toReduceBioeffects

Hongliang Ren · 2006

In theprevailing development of applying wireless sensor networks tohumanbodymonitoring, itshould becarefully addressed onthepossible adverse effects caused by radio frequency radiation tothebody, especially forlongterm, intensive andclose inspection. Thispaperfirst investigates the bioeffects causedbyradiofrequency transmission ofsensor node, including thermaleffects andathermal effects. The bioeffects modelisstudied inbothnear-field andfar-field, in relation toSpecific Absorption Rate(SAR). A bioeffects metric isthenproposed toevaluate theadverse biological effects. After identifying thefactors thatcanreducetheadverse health effects inthecommunication systemwe proposea game theoretic modelofdistributed powercontrol to analysis bioeffects forthesystem. The bioeffects costfunction is introduced tothenetworkutility asametric toevaluate the performance ofwireless bodysensornetworks intermsof health effect consideration. Thetwomaincontributions ofthis workarethata normalized bioeffects metric, equivalent Coefficient-of-Absorption-and-Bioeffects (CAB), isintroduced toevaluate anddesign thecommunication protocols, anda novelgametheoretic powercontrol modelisemployed to balance thebioeffects forCDMA-Basedwireless bodysensor networks.
