A general inputparadigm forblindandvisually impaired usersisproposed. Inputisclassified intothree categories, namelyinput oftextusing Braille chords, inputof digits andnavigation andediting oftext. A numpadinput device isusedforallthethree modesofinput. Therequired modeis automatically detected byanalyzing thespatial andtemporal properties ofthedevice usage. Braille input chords areresolved dynamically andaretherefore notboundtospecific keys. Low-cost andwidely available standalone numeric keypads are usedasinput devices. I.INTRODUCTION
