This paper describes the integration of an LR natti1 al language paiser with the SPHINX speech recognition 5ystem SPHINX is one of the most successful speech iecognition systems in use today Although It attains high ~oid accuiacy, SPHINX often outputs ungrammatical iecognition results because the baseline SPHINX systein use5 my simple word-pair or bigram language models Foi applications of spoken-language piocessing, sentence accuiacy is also important We have incorporated LR paising into SPHINX to piovide more global grammatical coiistiaiiits Howevei, when using a tight grammar in a left-to-light continuous speech recognizei, once things begin to go wiong, they tend to go completely wrong. We also piopose a solution to this problem by combining a context-free grammar with a bigram grammar.
