Fault Tolerant Hiah SDeed Network for Space Svstems

A robust, dynamically reconfigurable topology is needed for multiple fault tolerance and automatic repair on long missions or in reusable systems. A Forward Loop Backward Hop (FLBH) braided-mesh network is compared to the FDDI ANSI X3T9.5 standard to determine response time under varying traffic conditions using different routing algorithms. The results show that FLBH: 1) has a better response time for similar traffic conditions, 2) can carry about 6 times the traffic of an FDDI for a IS node network, and 3) offers a much wider range of reconfiguration capabilities. Therefore, it is a choice solution for a robust, dynamically reconfigurable network.
