ABS TRACT The implementation of a personal computer based expert system for the diagnosis of binocular vision problem is described. The knowledge base is built based on input from experts. The system is capable of guiding the operator through a sequence of necessary tests and utilize the results to diagnose the patient's vision problem including squint. Initial evaluation shows practical clinical application potential, especially as a teaching aid.
