This paper discusses the specific securityrequirements of Internet-based learning (eLearning). Two concrete solutions for improving the degree of securityachievable are shown. First, a framework for secure testing is introduced. This framework prevents manipulation from the side of the students during learning thus allowing a reliable control of learning success. Second, solution presented deals with the problem of confidentialityand protection of copy right. By establishing a lifelong control of the copyright owner over his documents it prevents illegitimate access and redistribution. r 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
