Interconnection Networks for Fifth-Generation
Computers L. Menezes · 1988
An important subset of Fifth Generation Computers are Expert Systems. Support for the database management subsytem of such a machine must include par- allel I/O, a relational engine and an interconnection net- work. Properties of a multiple tree-based network called KYKLOS are presented and examined in the context of this application. It is shown that this structure effectively supports the parallel executions of database operations such as the join. A brief description of the hardware of a single 1/0 node is included.
