Nowadays, wireless LocalAreaNetworks (WLANs)are widely usedinvarious environments, including business, education, government, public andindividual. However, because theattacks againist WLANsareeasier thanLAN,the security architectures inWLANs havebeendiscussed frequently inrecent years. Thispaper proposes anewsecurity architecture that enhances thesecurity oftheWLANsbased on thenew IEEE 802.1 iistandard forlarge-scale multinational corporations. Furthermore, by adopting distributed authentication servers, itprovides a better performance thnthetraditional architecture withacentral authentication server.
