Thispaper presents acandidate fortheITU-TG.722packet loss concealment standard. Thealgorithm isbasedonwaveform extrapolation inthespeech domain. Thestrong backward adaptive nature ofG.722makesthestate update during lostframes a challenge. Thepaperpresents methods toupdate theG.722 subband decoder state memoryduring packet loss. Furthermore, novel techniques tofacilitate smooth transition after packet loss are described. Formalsubjective testresults indicate thatthe algorithm farexceeds allrequirements intheITU-Ttermsof reference.
