In MPEG I audio compressioii standard, intensity stereo coding scheme is the kej, technology to achieve a bit rnte lower than 2x128 kbit/s for stereophonic signals while preserving high audio quality. In this paper, we present a nen' intensity stereo coding algorithm that has a lietter audio quality than the technique indicated hy the MPEG I standard drafr.
