Currents and Entropy in Full Cylindrical Quantum Wires

Vjekoslav D. Sajfert, Mihajlo Pupin · 2004

Full cylindrical quantum wire, being the system of concentrical cylinders with central fiber contains two parts. One part contains central fiber and cylinder with minimal radius and second part contains the rest of cylinders. Electrons of the first part are moving in potential fields along the axis of cylinder, along the radius of the system and in discs while for the second part potential field in discs, in the approximation of the nearest neighbour is negligible. With help of one-particle wave functions it was shown that the electron currents in both parts of the systems are equal and propagate only along the axis of cylinders. Electron entropies are the matrices. The entropy of electrons moving in the second part of the system is diagonal one, while the entropy of electrons of the first part of the system is 3x3 matrix having off diagonal elements, too.
