Inthis study wepropose anewapproach forselective encryption intheHuffman coding oftheDiscrete Cosine Transform (DCT)coefficients using theAdvanced Encryption Standard (AES). Theobjective istopartially encrypt thehumanface in animageorvideo sequence. Thisapproach isbased onthe AESstream ciphering using Variable Length Coding (VLC) oftheHuffman's vector. Theproposed schemeallows the decryption ofaspecific region oftheimageandresults ina significant reduction inencrypting anddecrypting processing time. Italso provides aconstant bit rate while maintaining the JPEGandMPEG bitstream compliance. Index Terms-Imageencryption, JPEGcompression, face protection, AES-OFB.
