Following the discovery that certain medications were associated with sudden death due to the potentially fatal arrhythmia, Torsade de Pointes (TdP), regulators and drug developers sought how best to identify the culprit compounds. This article outlines the stumbling blocks on the regulatory journey towards current legislation, and the insights gained through a proactive regulatory approach.
