A Network Discovery Tool for Network Administrators
Andrew J. Bennett · 2012
The ability to gather information about a computer network is a core responsibility of every network administrator. This ranges from an enterprise admin that manages thousands of devices that incorporates various technologies, down to an inexperienced home user that is attempting to create their own local area network. With current applications that can assist a network administrator in discovering this information, such as well-known network tools like NetBrute, SAINT and Nessus, the majority are very specialized and require the user to have a grounding knowledge of basic network principals. NetSeeker however, alleviates many of the issues that standard network discovery tools suffer from. With the creation of PowerShell 2.0 that is engineered to take full advantage of the Windows Management instrumentation (WMI), background jobs and remote management, NetSeeker is able to obtain a plethora of information from network computers in record time with a minimal amount of user input.
