Performance Evaluation of HSRP Protocol for Wireless Network for Fault Tolerance to Improve Quality of Service
Inderjeet Kaur, Harpreet Kaur Bajaj · 2013
Researchers have proposed a number of fault tolerance protocols in literature for improving quality of service. Each one is based on different characteristics and properties. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of campus network with and without HSRP enabled routers. The protocol establishes a framework between network routers in order to achieve default gateway failover if the primary gateway should become inaccessible in close association with a rapid-converging routing protocol like EIGRP or OSPF. We perform simulations using OPNET IT GURU Academic Edition simulator. In the performance evaluation of the co-ordination function, the protocols are tested under the realistic conditions. Tests are performed for Remote Login parameters in the Networks.
