Filtering ofFrequency Modulated Signals Embedded in a-Stable Noise Using Robust DFTForns

A taskoffrequency modulated (FM)signal filter- ingbymeansofrobust DFTisconsidered. Itisshownthatinthe caseofnon-Gaussian noise withsymmetric heavy-tailed pdfa standard DFTcannot efficiently suppress outliers thatcontami- natethesignal. Threerobust DFTformsaredescribed andthe procedure adaptive totail behavior based onthemyriad estimate forderiving real andimaginary spectral components isproposed. Itisdemonstrated thattheuseofthedescribed andproposed approaches leads toconsiderable improvement ofsignal estimate incomparison withtechniques basedonstandard DFT.Such improvement (MSEreduction) isprovided forawiderangeof parameters ofnoise withsymmetric a-stable distribution.
