Inthis paper, weintroduce therate adaptation problem inadaptive wireless multiuser OFDMsystems andillustrate its optimal solution. Duetothehigh complexity ofthis solution, weillustrate apreviously proposed two-step algorithm that wassuggested tosimplify the adaptation process. This algorithm isbased onequal distribution ofpower onOFDMsubcarriers. Wethen propose anewmodification onthefirst step ofthis algorithm, which makesthesecond step unnecessary. Finally, anenhanced version ofthenewly proposed single step algorithm is suggested toreach anearoptimal performance.
