Annotation istheprocess ofsupplementing data withadditional information thatwasnotpartoftheactual observation, butreflects post-facto commentsandassociations madeby a userwho analyzes thedata.Whileannotation management systems areemerging inthefield ofrelational data, suchsystems forscientific applications, wherethereisa wideheterogeneity inthetypesofannotable data, arealmost nonexistent. Inthis demonstration paper, wedescribe Graphitti, atool that(i) allows ausertoannotate awidevariety ofscientific data, and(ii) allows ausertoquerydataandtheir annotations inaseamless manner.
