Change Detection Methods for Computer Network Problems

In previous research, the detection of network problems was performed using an appropriate subset of Management Information Base (MIB) variables. The changes in the behaviour of the MIB variables were detected using different change detection algorithms; this change gives a clear image about any problem that might occur in the network domain. This paper is concerned with the problem of change detection in network traffic using the most popular change detection online methods. A detailed review of the methodology of these techniques and their advantages and disadvantages are given in this research. Examples of interesting applications that use these methods include network fault management, security management and performance management.
