Analysis ofElectron Behaviour inPolymeric FilmsDuring Electronic Irradiation
Electrique deToulouse · 2005
Charges canappear onspacecraft surface via various processes including conduction, irradiation, ionisation andpolarisation. Theaccumulation of charges canleads tothecreation ofanelectric field that eventually prevents further charge storage. However, a spacecraft canonly tolerate alimited range ofelectric potential andcurrents. Inthepresent case, we are studying theelectron behaviour inpolymeric films such asTeflon® during electronic irradiation. Thismaterial iscurrently usedinthespace industry. Ouraimistoget abetter understanding oncharge storage, conduction andrelaxation during irradiation andalsoduring the relaxation taking especially into account theeffect of theelectron beamenergy, theirradiation timeandthe fluxdensity. Results obtained fromPulsed Electro- Acoustic, surface current andsurface potential data are analysed andcompared with theoretical data.
