X-12-Graph: Visual Diagnostics for Time Series Modeling and Seasonal Adjustment

Catherine C. Hood · 1998

X-12-Graph is a program developed at the Census Bureau to provide graphical diagnostics for the Bureau's X-I2-ARIMA program, a publicly-available program used worldwide for time series modeling and seasonal adjustment. Our goal in creating X-12-Graph was to provide specific types of time series graphs in a package that would be easy for everyone to use. X-12-Graph is programmed with the System and comes in two versions - interactive and batch. Neither version reqUires previous SAS experieuce from the' user. X-12-Graph allows the user to • select from 12 types of graphs; • compare different X-12-ARIMA adjustments; • choose options for the graphs, such as starting and ending dates, scale, and colors, and; • assemble a combination graph from previously produced graphs.
