Inthispaper,we developamethodforfaultde- tectionbasedon Stopwatchautomata.Thismethodtakes intoaccounttheexactbehaviorofsomephysical resources. Becauseofamalfunction, somesystemtaskscanbestopped andresumeda little later. Thus,we introduce theconcept ofan acceptable systembehaviorwhichissupposedtobe observable. Itissupervised bytwoclocksforeachtask.The timedstatespaceofthestopwatchautomatondelimits ex- actlytheacceptable systembehavior.Itpermitstodetect thefaultasearlyaspossible. Thisspaceisa setofthein- equality constraints whereanyviolation oftheseconstraints represents a fault.
