Thispaperprovides a schemeforMPEG-2toH.264 transcoding. Thisschemeiscomposed oftwoparts: intra prediction andinter prediction. Fortheintra prediction part, 8x8block DCT-HTtransform-domain converse isused, and thenintra modedecision isdoneinHTdomain toobtain the optimum mode, sothat goodintra prediction isacquired. For theinter prediction part, motionvector (MV)gotfrom variable length decoding (VLD)inMPEG-2stream isreused asprediction motion vector (PMV)ofH.264, thenmotion prediction modeandsearch region arereset, sothat better prediction result isacquired. Experimental results showthat this scheme isfeasible.
