Dynamic andAutomatic Interworking between PersonalAreaNetworks usingComposition

Carlos Pinho, Manuel Ricardo, José Ruela, Petteri Pöyhönen · 2005

Nextgeneration communication networks will be characterized by thecoexistence of multiple technologies anduserdevices inanintegrated fashion. Theincreasing numberofdevices ownedbyasingle user willleadtoa new communication paradigm: users owning multiple devices thatformcooperative networks, andnetworks ofdifferent users thatcommunicate with eachother, e.g., acquiring Internet access through each other. In thiscommunication scenario no user intervention should berequired andtechnology should seamlessly adapt totheuser's context, preferences, and needs. Inthis paperweaddress oneofthose scenarios, interworking between Personal AreaNetworks, using legacy technologies andtheAmbientNetworkand NetworkComposition concepts, herein explained. We arguethatnewfunctionalities should beintroduced to enableeffortless useoflegacy technologies insuch dynamic andheterogeneous environments.
