Network-based drug-disease relation prioritization using ProphNet.

Assisting drug repositioning processes can lead to a consi- derable reduction in cost and time in any drug development process. Recent in silico approaches have addressed the network-based nature of biological information to assess the possible new indications for a query drug. Here we present a new methodology based on network prioritiza- tion, that can aid researchers in the drug repositioning process by means of prioritizing drugs related to a query disease. Results show that selec- tion of the data sources to be integrated can be a critical step towards success in drug repositioning.
