Message from the Workshop Organizer - EXPONWIRELESS 2006
Rosario Giuseppe Garroppo, Yonghe L, Vasilios A. Siris · 2006
The first Workshop on advanced EXPerimental activities ON WIRELESS networks and systems (EXPONWIRELESS 2006) brought individuals involved in all the aspects related to experimental achievements on wireless networks. The workshop is the first in a series intended to the creation of a forum where researchers, vendors, providers and users have exchanged ideas on past experience, current requirements, and future visions, useful for the development of new protocols, algorithms, devices and systems. The workshop attracted high interest among the international community, and included the presentation of 10 papers from seven different countries. These proceedings contain the revised versions of the accepted papers. The 15 members of the Technical Program Committee, together with several additional external reviewers, worked hardly for providing the basis for the final paper selection. The final program was excellent and diverse, and covered fundamental issues in wireless measurements in operating and test-bed network scenarios, experimental analysis of wireless sensor networks, of protocols for fast handoff and for multicast services. The final result would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of many colleagues. Special thanks are due to the members of the Technical Program Committee and to all external referees for their invaluable help with the paper reviews and their overall sense of responsibility and responsiveness under very tight deadlines in a particularly busy period. Finally, we are very grateful to all authors who honoured EXPONWIRELESS 2006 by trusting their work to the workshop.
