PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF IMAGE SEGMENTATION TECHNIQUES USED FOR QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS OF MEMBRANE

This paper presents the analysis and evaluation of different image segmentation techniques on the application of checking quality of membrane filter used for bacteria filtration. Quality of the membrane filter is determined by checking the uniformity of pores which can be done by calculating the area of pores in the filter. The performance of active contour method and mean shift algorithm used for segmentation is compared and evaluated for the area extraction. The simulation results exhibit the better performance of mean shift algorithm and helps in extracting the area of the pores more efficiently.
