Test Lab Manager for Clearswift
Robert Cathles · 2012
The Test Lab Manager is a database with a website interface designed as a tool to manage resources in a server lab environment, for example, racks, physical machines, virtual machines and IP addresses. It has applications beyond tracking allocations of resources as such as checking for duplicate functionality and redundant systems, so that these can then be removed, which improves running efficiency of the infrastructure. Detailed information on devices is also logged such as ownership and uptime, so that critical systems can be monitored and notifications can be administered in a triage style, which helps with system recovery, for example power failure or rebooting, and impact or damage assessment can be carried out. Other reporting information can also be gathered such as energy consumption for monitors and servers. Ultimately this helps the business to be greener, more efficient and to save money by collecting data and presenting that information in different formats for staff and administrators. Figure 1.
